Pioneer Drilling is committed to protecting the health and safety of its employees, customers and vendors. Safety is a priority in all facets of our company and our vision is simple, ZERO INCIDENTS.

We believe all injuries and work related illness are preventable by practicing safe behaviors. Every employee has the right and the responsibility to stop a job if they believe it is unsafe. We believe that no business objective will take priority over Health, Safety or Environment. Simply put, no task is too important or urgent that it cannot be done safely.

Programs and Initiatives

Pioneer Drilling continues to focus and invest resources in valuable programs and initiatives that will allow us to achieve our Health, Safety and Environment goals.

IADC RIG PASS Accreditation

The International Association of Drilling Contractors has accredited both Pioneer Drilling's U.S. and International safety training programs. This accreditation affirms Pioneer's commitment to ensuring comprehensive training for all new rig personnel.

Short Service Employee program

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 40 percent of all non-fatal work related injuries in the U.S. are attributed to employees that have been employed for one year or less. Pioneer recognizes that with experience comes awareness and has implemented a Short Service Employee (SSE) program for all new-employees and any rehired employees that have been away from the company for more than 6 months. This program will commence upon arrival at the rig location and continue for 28 working days from the date of hire.

The purpose of the SSE program is to assist the company, managers, supervisors, and fellow employees with the identification of a "short service employee" so that additional supervision, training, observation, attention, and assistance can be given to the SSE. The ultimate goal is to increase the employee's operational knowledge and safety awareness so that injury resulting accidents will be prevented.

Behavioral Based Training

In order to achieve our vision of ZERO INCIDENTS, our experienced management team provides leadership, education, training and encouragement throughout all levels of the organization. We focus on creating a culture that aims to identify and eliminate workplace hazards and dangerous work practices in order to provide a safe and productive environment. We record and measure our safety performance in an effort to continually improve our overall health and safety performance.

Safety Bonus Point Program

In order to incentivize and promote teamwork to minimize accidents, Pioneer Drilling maintains a safety bonus point program for all drilling rig personnel. All rig personnel have the opportunity to accumulate points each month based on the safety performance of their crew as a whole. Points can be redeemed for catalog merchandise selected by the employee.

"Pioneer Drilling Company is dedicated to the goal that accidents can be prevented. You have my commitment of resources, responsibility and accountability to ensure all of our operations are directed with this belief in mind."
